How to make a Horror movie

how to make a horror movie

Ok folks.
In this clip I’m going to talk to you about how to make a horror movie.
The thing that separates horror from the pack, when it comes to all different types of movies that are produced in Hollywood every year is it the really strikes chord with our fear, in our personalities, and in our brains, it really doesn’t number on that side of us. That's why people like horror movies, they like to be scared. So, how do you make a good horror movie?
First, you need a really scary story. And you want try to do something that people haven’t seen before. Because when it comes to horror, you know…
They are so many ways to scare people. You can startle them, you can … you really creep them out, you can build up tension, but really there is only a few ways to be scared. If you want to try do it in an original way, so come up with a story that is unique. As unique as you can possibly make it.
Next you gonna write the script. And make sure you have a good script. Like any future film, you want make sure the script is top notch before you move into the next phase, which is: bringing on your crew, find a good group of people to work with you, hire all different department heads, bring along a producer (if you are not the producer), find a creative team that can really bring this vision of yours to life. Get a good group of people working with you. That is incredibly important as well.
Then, you gonna want hire the actors. Hiring people that who are believable is incredibly important. Particularly in this genre, because if they come acrossed at all as fake or cheesy or ew… you’re not gonna end up with the good product, make sure they can act, that is incredibly important. And along goes lines you really want gonna invest and neither and individual or someone who’s gonna want to create the… the … the evil force in your film. Whatever if it’s a person or a monster or whatever, you just want to make sure that is the top notch head actor or creative team producing whatever this creature is going to become. Because your movie literally hangs on the success of this decision, if you make a bad decision and you… the evil does not come through, there is nothing to be scared off there, your movie will fall flat on its face. So make sure your villain, your antagonist is top notch, you have to have a truly frightening villain to make a successful horror film.
So when you have all this pieces in play, make a schedule, shoot’em the script, do as effective and effentienly as possible and add it together, and really feel the story as you put it together make sure as you edit the scene, as you build the scene, to create tension, to shock people, to scare people, make sure that it’s… it feels a little bit fun and not entirely gross cause you know that’s your artistic vision disturb the crap out of people.
A horror film has to be frightening and it has to feel tense feel tense and it should have a little bit of fun with it as well. If you can add all those components and you have a good group of people working with you, you have just made yourself a very successful and very well told horror film.

transcription "how to make a documentary"

dude

Ok folks.
In this clip is going to talk about how to make a documentary.
Documentaries are supposed to be an exposé to something real. An issue, a situation, a time period in history, an event of some kind, but is all granted in reality. So what you gonna do obviously is do a lot of research early on before you actually start the filming process. Do as mush research as necessary so to build on a timeline or what it is you want to cover in this documentary, how you want to layout the story, as it play out in reality or how you want present the subject that you shooting.
When you’ve done that, essentially of what you gonna be doing is shooting a lot of material. You need to get a lot of coverage with the documentary. Probably I would say more than if you're shooting a fictional film, simply because with the fictional film you have a script and you know exactly what it is you want to get and you know what's on the page, and therefore you pretty much know how the story is gonna play. You still have a lot of coverage in a fictional film, but it’s not quite the same. Because in documentary there is a structure, and it might even be a script, and evend go into a naration, but you’ve absolutely no idea what kind of material you gonna get when you out there in the field, shooting. You gonna get need to shoot a lot, in order to put this together ultimately.
So, the next step it’s obviously shooting. Be there, be in … You have the camera on your shoulder, ready to shoot at all time, and get as much coverage as you possibly can. And then, when it’s all done, you gonna sit down, review it all, and this may takes weeks sometimes and find out exactly even how you wanna piece the story together, and how you want to present the documentary, going back to what your original plan was and now seeing what material you’ve gotten. Sometimes, your plan has changed after you see “oh wouaa, now that we’ve got this, maybe we wanna try something different now”, because you didn’t expect to shoot this and this and this…
Piece it together in a way that's truly your vision and when it’s done and when you’ve gone through all that footage in somehow and it done in a one to two hour presentation, you have successfully created a documentary.
